Potatoes..

Newbie here, can someone please tell me how do I start growing spuds and what variety is best, I had a go at planting them in large buckets and tyres neither worked very well, so this time the garden, what fertiliser and what preparation is needed.. Any thoughts, appreicated

    Thanks for your reply, my next question is where do I get comfrey leaves from and when is the best time to plant potatoes?
