Local Milk

I've recently discovered 'Origin Earth' milk. Produced right here in Hawkes Bay and it is whole milk, with cream on top. Availiable in one and 2 litre containers from the Farmers Market or Chantal Foods, Napier.

We are loving it.

    Insite Health in Taradale do not stock Origin Earth milk.  Our milk is totally legal rather than working through loopholes in the law, and as such is pasteurised to the minimum legal requirements. Raw milk is supposed to be sold from behind the farm gate. Please read the Origin Earth story on our website;

    Origin Earth milk is pastuerised but not homogenised.

      Thats too bad, the pasturisation kills all the stuff that makes milk good for you.  I wonder if they would provide raw milk if it was requested???

      I think there are restrictions on selling raw milk.  Is it supposed to be gate sales? I remember buying it years ago and the shop used to hide it in a fridge out the back : ) For those of us who don't mind pasteurised, Origin Earth is  lovely milk and much nicer than the Fonterra brands. It makes great yoghurt and ice cream.

    Lindsey Farms is in Waipukurau.  You can get the Origin Earth milk from Adam & Eva's in Havelock North also.  I love 'em both!  I resent that milk from perfectly good HB farms has to wing it's way to Hawera (or where ever it goes), stuck in a bottle and trucked back.

    Hi Hester, is it raw milk, ie untreated?  I currently get raw milk delivered to a nearby shop and I pick it up.  Its from Lindseys Farm, im not sure where that is but if the other place is raw milk and closer, that would be less food miles and thats what we'er all about,
