What can't I feed my worms?

I know that I shouldn't give them any pineapple at all and only to put in onion or garlic in small quantities and only in a well established worm farm. Anything else I should be avoiding?

  • Mine like banana skins too! They have to compete with the roses though, I bury the skins under two roses that I grew from cuttings
  • They seem much mor settled now....I haven't had any escapees for nearly a week and only a few are still in the bottom level, the rest have moved back up to the bedding and food. I have no idea whether this is because the worm farm has dried out a little or whether moving it nearer to the garage window helped, but the wormies seem to be much more active and are muching away on a few food scraps. They seem to particularly like devouring banana skins :-)
  • I've not fed our hair yet but have fed my dog's hair to the worms! Have they settled in yet?
  • Thanks....I'll have a read. I've added some human hair as an experiment today as well. I figure it won't do any harm to the soil where the worm castings will eventually be added.

I've feed cooked citrus pulp leftover from making marmalade and the worms didn't suffer - they also like quince pulp, in fact any cooked fruit pulp from jelly making.
