invasion

My worm farm has been invaded by rats (bad design - my fault)

do rats eat worms?

The reason I ask is that there seems to be a lot less worms in my worm farm,

unless they have escaped through the rat hole.

any input is greatly appreciated.

Worm farm feeding

Hi,

I want to start my worm farm to compost our food scraps, but Im not sure if we will be able to produce enough to feed them.

We are two in the house and we produce food scraps to fill a 2L ice cream container per week, maybe a bit more some weeks.

Setting up a Can-O-Worms

We've recently purchased a Can-O-Worms and have started it up with 500g of Eisenia fetida and Eisenia andrei, stored in our garage. The worms have started to consume the small amounts of 'food' that we have added. The problem we've having is that som

Just a note for those that are interested.

I have been working for 4 years developing hungry bin, a continuous flow worm farm. It can process 2kg of waste per day and is very simple and easy to use. Have a look at the website and post an

Fruit flies

Is there anything that can be done with respect to reducing the number of fruit flies that the worm farm appears to have attracted at the moment. The worms are fine and doing the job, it would just make the task of adding stuff to it more pleasant if

Too wet

A few of my worms seem to be crawling the walls and possibly headed out.
I am inclined to think that it is because the bedding is too wet.
What can I add that will dry the bedding out?

Thank you

Big slugs in worm farm

Does anyone else find large slugs with dark brown spots/stripes in their wormfarms?  I think I was told once that they are tiger slugs and they predate on the worms so I always take them out.  Are they bad for the wormfarm?

Dog poop

As the owner of two dogs, was intrigued to learn that Earl has been using his worms to process dog poop - except after the dogs have been wormed. Much more environmentally sound than bagging and binning it. Have been thinking about alternative means

Smelly worm farm

The weather has suddenly gone very hot. Yesterday it was over 33 degrees in the shade in my garden (bit more than the weather forecast was saying) and I noticed in the evening that my can-o-worms (in the garage) has a fermenting sort of smell coming

Help - my worms are escaping

Last week I moved from Auckland to Otaki and thus my worms had to spend a few days travelling in my car. They also had to cope with changing from one bin to another and thus having their home being "upturned". Now after a few days here in Otaki they
