Tell us about your garden and what you're growing

Since I was a small child, gardening has been a passion of mine, especially the growing of vegetables. I learnt from both my parents and grandparents, my father being a nurseryman. I grow many of my own vegetables, (organically) and love to give away any surplus. My garden is very productive and I grow as much seasonally as possible, with a year round supply of various types of lettuce and mesclun. For a long time I raised seedlings commercially and still raise most of my own now. There are 14 different fruit trees/vines on my 650m2 section and a variety of herbs - culinary and medicinal. I am a qualified Herbalist, so I tincture a number of my own herbs including calendula, comfrey, hypericum, olive leaf, lemon balm and peppermint.

    Hi Jan, Thanks so much for your message. Thats great that you have moved here! Te Awamutu is a great little town. I hope you are feeling settled. My garden is a little neglected at the moment - juggling home, work and kids is a challenge for sure. If you ever want to have a  cuppa though, and talk gardening that would be great!
