Hi, has anyone had success fixing up a chicken that is crop bound? One of my Barnevelders has a squishy bulge in her crop. We have tried feeding her olive oil and massaging the lump. It seemed to go away but today (two days later) it is back.
She is lively and normal apart from the lump, and still laying.

Just wondering what made you think this was more than a normal full crop after feeding. My lot frequently have bulges in their crops after meals, meaning they had a good feed. Never had a sick one from this. I have a dish of oyster grit in their coop for them which would help digestion and shell hardness and they free range. What signs do you look for if it is unusual?
Sour crop? I think that's what our white wyandotte had the other week- she died from it.
Maybe try your vet, who might inject something direcrly into it.

Success! The oil and massage seems to have done the trick - we tried it a second time. (I don't think it had got to sour crop stage, just crop bound.)
