starting out with chickens...

Hi there Poultry in Urbania people,

 

My flatmates and I want to start out with chickens, maybe in the spring of this year.  We are looking for information about keeping hens and I was wondering if there were any book or internet recommendations that anyone would like to share (apologies if this is a regular question on this forum).

 

Also, is there anyone out there in Auckland who would consider being a 'chicken mentor' for us, by offering advice to us as we start on this journey?

    Check out the above link, for the e-zine 'Keeping Chickens' Get your self on the free email subscribers list and the magazine turns up every month in your inbox. It is made up from contributions from poultry fanciers etc from all over the world. Lots of stories about keeping poultry, pics of coops and flocks and info on husbandry. I find it quite fascinating. Good luck on your venture.
