Philosophy of ham

Just interested as to what you all think about how and what we eat...

If you eat chicken every week for a year, do you think you still would if they were raised, killed and processed by you?
I think rampant consumerism has changed the way we consume meat for the worse. I think it makes us sedate and dependant but the harsh reality is most of us could never break that cycle. Ive had this discussion with vegan and vegetarian friends who have expressed their dismay at still having to purchase elements of their diet despite their best efforts.
Isn't that the dream though? little bit of land, grow your own food, make your own wine, do nothing and watch the sunset....makes sense to me, why aren't we all doing it?

  • Hmm. Yep, I think I would probably still regularly eat chicken if I was the one raising and butchering them. In fact I think that home-grown chicken can be wonderful.

I do, however, sometimes question the ethics of killing animals to eat them. But I observe nature and see animals eating others as they always have done. And I like eating meat. Maybe I will stop eating it some day, but for now I am pretty much at peace with it.

I am opposed to animal cruelty, and I don't like the way some animals are raised. I like to hunt my own meat whenever I can.
