Does anyone know whether it's possible to get reusable screw top lids for Agee preserving jars? I like using the jars, but I think the seals are a bit wasteful and uneconomical - not like jam jars where you can reuse the lids... So anyway, if I could get reusable lids, it would make me feel a bit better!

I saw a link to some website in the NZ Gardener magazine or Homegrown book where you can buy preserving jars online if you need them. I found this site for buying them but have yet to have used them. So far I just reuse sterilized Dolmio Pasta Sauce jars, and old jam jars...works for me.
hi Sonya.
not entirly what you want to know but in referance to jars for preserves.
have started washing all jars we use, and re use in the steralising powder i use for cleaning home brue/wine making .
not a big problem as you need to cook all jars before you use them.
we have found that even the stinkiest old pickle jar comes up smelling of - nothing.

They don't seem to sell lids in supermarkets, just the rings and seals. I'm looking for lids all in one where I don't have to throw part of it away each time I open a jar (and I can use part of a jar and put it in the fridge rather than having to use the whole thing!). :)
