Gillian Oakbrook commented on Nicolas Santini's blog post whats wrong with my lemon tree?
"High Nicolas - yep it's got sooty mould. Very common, especially as it's been so humid lately. There are a few things you can do about it. Most labour intensive is to gently "scrub" (emphasis on gently!) each leaf with a soft…"

As the Seasons turn...good name for a bodice-ripping soap opera set in an organic garden...

Well, so much for all of the summer veg I was hoping to harvest and preserve! Not the best summer for tomatoes, and my cucumbers and capsicums came to naught (except for the lemon cucumbers which went berserk...) Ah well, on to the next season - planting heaps of autumn veg and herbs. Experimenting with growing my own spices - so far great results with cumin, coriander, and cayenne pepper. Where the heck can I get hold of a black pepper plant, though?See More

Gillian Oakbrook commented on Pete Russell's blog post FOOD BILL - Time For ACTION
"Just a correction, whilst the food bill is very worrying in it's current form, some of the information doing the rounds about it is quite wrong - for example, it is NOT "due to be passed through parliament shortly after the holidays".…"

Since late 2009 we've been developing our small suburban garden to grow as much of our own food as possible. We harvest rainwater, compost, have a worm bin and an increasing number of vegetable beds and fruit trees and bushes.
