Help me get $10,000 funding from Pure Futures to grow community through gardening

Since then I've been busy researching, planning and connecting with lots of new, amazing people. When I write to or talk to new people about what I'm doing I find myself describing it…

Help me out in the Dream to Reality environmental goal competition!

I've had my entry accepted in the Happyzine Dream to Reality environmental goal competition. The competition called for entrants to submit a proposal based on an environmental goal they'd like to achieve in their community this year. The winner will get mentoring, support and publicity to achieve their goal.

My proposal is establishing rooftop food gardens on apartment buildings in Auckland's CBD.…

Hi Emily,

I am a new ooooby member. I have just joined your city rooftop food gardens group as I am also interested in a similar field and would love the opportunity to pick your brain.

I’m in my final year of a 4 year industrial design degree at Massey University.

For my final year each student decides on a problem or an area that they would like to improve on. We then spend the entire year researching and developing this.

For my final year project I want to make sustainable living more achievable for non-property owners. One of the ways in which I believe this could be achieved is a product that allows people to grow their own vegetables.
The angle I'm working from is that I want it to be easily transportable and maybe even something that can be customized/ personalized for different living situations. It is also important it doesn't affect the property in any way.

So maybe if you have any ideas/ suggestions for this or maybe know of someone who could help me in this area would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks,

Andrea

Hey Emily,

I've just moved back from overseas and I'm keen to get involved in some community projects.  Your rooftop gardens sound really interesting.  I was working on some similar urban gardening projects in Mexico City.  Here's my email, let me know if there's anything I can do: charlimaar@gmail.com

Great event last night Emily. Fabulous turnout. We're having a meeting tonight in Grey Lynn to reveal the 'Box' to anyone who can might like to support it's launch on the 23rd September. It would be great if you could join us. It would also be good to have another catch up soon to discuss ways we can support each other. Have a great day.

Don't you hate those days when it's pouring with rain in the morning and then you lug your umbrella around all day and by the end of the day it's sunny and you're completely out of 'rain mode' and that umbrella just gets abandoned? Thanks for saving it for me, Emily. Actually, it's on its last legs, so you're welcome to keep it as a junk/emergency umbrella, or if you're ever passing near TVNZ, that's where I work, so you could drop it off...

Thanks for the info Emily, nice to meet you too. I'll check out the link. I found another gardening course which I've signed up for. If you're interested details are at http://www.facebook.com/?ref=home#!/event.php?eid=118105741548129&ref=mf
It's with a group called Dirt Doctor and they'll be doing 3 short seminars on compost, dealing with weeds and micro-organisms.
Go well with the rooftops!
