Urban Pantry, in collaboration with Tangleball, is launching an ‘Urban Garden DIY’ workshop series, to be held in Tangleball's community workshop space.
The workshops will be shaped by the interests of the people who come to them, so whether there's a particular project idea you're really keen to bring to life, or you want to be inspired by other people's innovative…

I recently won the Dream to Reality competition with my proposal to create rooftop food gardens on city apartment buildings. Since then I've been busy researching, planning and connecting with lots of new, amazing people. When I write to or talk to new people about what I'm doing I find myself describing it…

Hey Emily,
Thanks for the response, I would love to arrange to chat as your experience would be hugely beneficial for my research on the topic.
I will email you
Thanks, Andrea
I am a new ooooby member. I have just joined your city rooftop food gardens group as I am also interested in a similar field and would love the opportunity to pick your brain.
I’m in my final year of a 4 year industrial design degree at Massey University.
For my final year each student decides on a problem or an area that they would like to improve on. We then spend the entire year researching and developing this.
For my final year project I want to make sustainable living more achievable for non-property owners. One of the ways in which I believe this could be achieved is a product that allows people to grow their own vegetables. The angle I'm working from is that I want it to be easily transportable and maybe even something that can be customized/ personalized for different living situations. It is also important it doesn't affect the property in any way.
So maybe if you have any ideas/ suggestions for this or maybe know of someone who could help me in this area would be hugely appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrea
Hey Emily,
I've just moved back from overseas and I'm keen to get involved in some community projects. Your rooftop gardens sound really interesting. I was working on some similar urban gardening projects in Mexico City. Here's my email, let me know if there's anything I can do: charlimaar@gmail.com
It's with a group called Dirt Doctor and they'll be doing 3 short seminars on compost, dealing with weeds and micro-organisms.
Go well with the rooftops!
Emily you need to talk to Dion from Rainbow Valley farm. He has experience in establishing rooftops garden in the States. Could you click on my page to aknowledge you've read this. Cheers
