I build communities of interest using social media and dialogue tools and processes. I'm currently working with the Ooooby Crew, developing Ooooby's social media strategy.
---
I live on Waiheke Island with my partner Kim, and our daughter Zuva. Since October 2007 I have been deeply involved in facilitating the growth of Transition Towns across New Zealand. I see Ooooby expressing Transition principles and a practical tool for supporting relocalisation.
I'm delighted to have been part of the early conversations with Pete, that evolved into this Ooooby community, and can see it enormous potential.
I post articles, that seem worthy of attention, on my blog at www.jamessamuel.co.nz.

Hi James: thank you for the food forest effort on Waiheke. I am in Wellington now, and will be cycling back to Auckland by late April. I pledged $70 for the effort. May I have lunch with you instead, since I won't be in town when Andy is there? I am happy with a plate of nuts and fruit. It will be my only chance to meet you for at least another year or so. Thanks for considering it, James. Please agree to my request only if it brings you joy to do so. Sincerely, Diane
Its great so many interesting article, blogs and pics... I spent time on the World wide Permaculture network today but oooby is much easier to use... especially for loading pictures.
Well done!

Hi James,
Thanks for getting in touch re: Regional permaculture pages
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Permaculture-Manawatu/263580473655233?sk=app_106171216118819
The aim is for each regions page to act as an information exchange portal, especially with youth who are keen facebook users, and people who may have never come across permaculture before.
Creating a place people can connect with each other will help disseminate relevant information and act as an extremely effective support network.
Facebook may not always be around, so the regional pages can always transition onto other sites as time progresses. Ooooby is clearly a place to have a face when it comes to permaculture too.
The priority, at the moment, is establishing mentors for each region - aiming at a minimum of five for each page who are simply set up with "admin" status. This gives each page real people for the members to see and communicate with.
There's a sliding scale of commitment/input required by each mentor - keeps it simple. Together everyone achieves more approach.
If you'd like to be a mentor for the Auckland (and/or other regions as you see fit) please feel free to go to the specific page and click "like" =) Then I'll be able to add you.
Any other feedback would obviously be appreciated.
Kind regards
Rob Bartrum
